E-15 fuel information

Most of you already know about the effect of E-15 fuel on 2 stroke engines.  This is an interesting read.

The BCSF offers a product through its affiliate AMSOIL website that will reduce this problem.  Call Louise in the office to put your order in for any Amsoil product and receive it at the ‘wholesale’ price.

20110726_GAO_E15_Study_one_pager[1]

Attached is a one page summary of details found in a recently conducted Government Accountabilities Office (GA)0 report on E-15 fuel.
The 57 page report is available from the GAO office. The full study called: ‘BIOFUELS, Challenges to the Transportation, Sale and Use of Intermediate Ethanol Blends – June 2011′ can be found on the GAO web site at www.gao.gov .
When reviewing this report, please note the US EPA has already recommended that E-15 fuel NOT be used in snowmobiles. Also note that the Department Of Energy (DOE) has contracted a thorough testing exercise of E-15 fuel in snowmobiles using the expertise of Michigan Technological University and the Keweenaw Research Center in Houghton, MI.
The Report from the DOE will be available in late 2011 or early 2012.
The GAO finding at the end of the Report Synopsis is most interesting. We have consistently told the EPA, the DOE and anybody that will listen that consumers will misfuel their vehicles if intermediate ethanol (E-15 blends) are available and are less expensive than other fuels. The E-15 fuel will be less expensive because of the related subsidies.
Please use as you see fit.

New Avalanche Signage Increases Backcountry Safety

VICTORIA – Backcountry enthusiasts will now have access to better information for evaluating snow conditions and assessing avalanche risks, thanks to new avalanche awareness signage around the province.

Avalanche awareness signs targeting mountain snowmobilers have been posted at 23 key highway locations and most of the 85 managed snowmobile areas in the province. These signs advise sledders they are entering avalanche territory and provide a telephone number and website address that gives up-to-date local avalanche conditions.

Avaluator signage, providing users with step-by-step instructions for assessing avalanche dangers, will be installed at nine of B.C.’s most popular snowmobile trail access sites. The signs provide a map of the area, which includes a visual representation of how risky the terrain is in relation to avalanches.
