Published by BCSF Admin March 13th, 2009

Snowmobile Closures – Under the Mountain Caribou Recovery Implementation Plan, scientists recommended over one million hectares across the mountain caribou range be closed to motorized winter recreation to facilitate recovery of caribou populations. These closures are now in effect.

Approved Ungulate Winter Ranges – An Ungulate Winter Range (UWR) is defined as an area that contains habitat that is necessary to meet the winter habitat requirements of an ungulate species.
