Notice of Elections:

Nominations must be received in the BCSF office no later than February 29th, 2008; nominations from the floor of the AGM will not be accepted unless the slate of is insufficient to fill all the vacant positions. Only one person per club may stand for nomination and no two family members may be elected to the board at one time.  Nominations must be submitted and signed by two members in good standing of the BC Snowmobile Federation. Any nominee for director must be a current member in good standing of a BCSF club for a minimum of 2 years immediately prior to nomination or at the discretion of the board. All nominees must be willing to sign the Code of Conduct agreement as laid out in our policy manual.

The potential nominees should:

  • Have been active in the sport.
  • Have been active at a local level in the province.
  • Have a serious interest in improving the sport.
  • Show interest in dealing with issues from a provincial perspective.
  • Have the ability to clearly understand the issues that face snowmobilers in BC.
  • Have the ability to work within a group and contribute to decision making.
  • To have the time to devote to the duties required of a director (see below).
  • Show a willingness to conduct themselves within the codes of conduct as set out in the policy manual.

Director’s Duties:

  • A director representing clubs in a zone will hold a minimum of two zone meetings or telephone conferences per year or attend at least one regular meeting of each club in his/her zone per year. 
  • Shall keep abreast of all problems being encountered by clubs in his/her zone.
  • Shall assist clubs in his/her zone in their attempts to resolve local problems.
  • Directors should network with other zone directors to help clubs resolve a problem;  seeking help from all levels of the Federation where there are persistent problems should be the next course of action.
  • At the Federation level, all directors shall take part in discussions and meetings, assist input as needed or requested; such as reviewing proposals and commentary in writing for the preparation of budget, planning of long-range goals and director of the Federation to bring forth suggestions for fundraising, government work problems and assistance to clubs , how safety and education programs are to be held in conjunction with the clubs.
  • Each director should serve actively on at least two Federation committees.
  • Directors should attend all scheduled meetings. Directors unable to attend a scheduled meeting are responsible to review all material presented at said meeting and present any written or oral comments to the president.
  • An annual written report by a director will document their fulfillment of duties.
  • All directors to submit two written reports outlining their zone clubs activities and concerns; one at the AGM and the other at the fall/winter board meeting.
  • Directors will conduct themselves according to the ethics and conflict guidelines set out in the policy governing them.
  • Represent their constituents.
  • Communicate board policies and programs to their constituents.
  • Represent the Federation on Regional issues.
  • Make every effort to promote snowmobiling as a safe, enjoyable and family recreation.

The positions to be filled are as follows:

  • Region 1 – Northeast (Fort Nelson/Fort St. John area)
  • Region 2 – Northwest (Terrace/Burns Lake area)
  • Region 3 – North Caribou (Prince George/Williams Lake area)
  • Region 5 – South Caribou (100 Milehouse/Interlakes area)
  • Region 6A – Southwest (Lower Mainland area)
  • Region 7A – North Okanagan (Sicamous/Salmon Arm area)
  • Region 8 – South Okanagan (Kelowna/Princeton area)
  • Region 9 – West Kootenay (Nakusp/Nelson area)
  • Region 10 – East Kootenay (Cranbrook/Fernie area)
