Laurie Snowball: A Passionate Advocate for Snowmobiling

Laurie's journey mirrors a common narrative within the snowmobiling community, representing a shared path of passion and commitment. Introduced to the sport in 2013 by her son Nathan, Laurie and her family wholeheartedly engaged with their local club, the Williams Lake Powder Kings. Initially serving as the Media Director, she later passed on this role to her daughter, who is now an active club volunteer.

Combining her newfound love for snowmobiling with her professional expertise as a bookkeeper, Laurie then took on the role of Treasurer with her local club. Her outstanding contributions did not go unnoticed, resulting in her nomination and acceptance of a provincial director position with the BCSF.

Laurie's Perspective: A Love for Family and the Outdoors

In Laurie's own words, "I love being a part of organized snowmobiling in BC," emphasizing the sport's family-oriented nature and the strong sense of community that makes it special.

Balancing her passion with family life, Laurie embodies the harmonious blend of family, work, and recreation cherished by many snowmobilers.

The Role of a Board Member: Inspiring Change, One Ride at a Time

Serving as a BCSF Board Director is a source of inspiration and responsibility. These individuals steer the Federation towards it’s mission and goals, namely province-wide initiatives that prioritize safety, stewardship, land use planning, tourism, and the preservation of snowmobiling opportunities. In this collective effort, they actively contribute to molding the future of organized snowmobiling in British Columbia.

Members commit approximately twelve hours a month, participating in meetings, committees, and special events. Each two-year term, renewable once, offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

As the BCSF Annual General Meeting approaches in Valemount this April, it's not just an election; it's an invitation for passionate snowmobilers to contribute to the vibrancy and future of the sport they love. With inspiring individuals like Laurie Snowball leading the way, the journey promises to be one of unity, growth, and shared joy in the exhilarating world of snowmobiling.
