BC Snowmobile Federation Unites Snowmobile Clubs at Annual Gathering in Valemount, BC April 5-7th, 2024

The annual gathering of the BC Snowmobile Federation (BCSF) proved to be a pivotal event, bringing together snowmobile clubs from across the province for a weekend of collaboration, learning, and celebration in Valemount, BC, from April 5th to 7th, 2024. With over 70 delegates representing 26 of 59 clubs around the province, this year's event showcased the importance of fostering unity and sharing knowledge within the snowmobiling community.

Adding to the event's significance was a special welcome video message from Prince George - Valemount MLA Shirley Bond. In her message, she acknowledged the invaluable contributions of snowmobile clubs but also expressed heartfelt gratitude to volunteers for their service on the ground. This sentiment was further echoed by Bond during a sitting of the Legislative Assembly (HERE at 2:07) later in the week, underscoring the deep appreciation for the dedication and efforts of snowmobiling enthusiasts across the province.

The weekend kicked off on Friday with Club Congress, a day brimming with diverse presentations and workshops designed to empower clubs with insights and strategies for success. A notable highlight was an opening presentation by Tourism Valemount and the Valemount and Area Recreation Development Association (VARDA). Their discussion shed light on the pivotal role that snowmobiling and outdoor recreation plays in fostering rural economic development and enriching the lives of BC residents.

The day's agenda further featured a workshop led by Nicole Matei, guiding clubs through an interactive SWOT analysis session, empowering them to develop strategic plans tailored to their respective local clubs. Brent Strand from Avalanche Canada delved into the intricate balance between avalanche awareness and effective marketing and communication strategies, offering valuable insights into Avalanche Canada's forthcoming initiatives for the upcoming season and beyond. Additionally, Tony Bielec, Operations Manager of Vantage Hotels shared insights on fostering successful corporate partnerships, while highlighting the innovative strategies implemented by Best Western Valemount to support snowmobiling within their community.

Saturday's discussions delved into pressing issues facing snowmobiling clubs and the industry at large. From strategizing key priorities for the BCSF to empowering clubs as environmental leaders, participants explored ways to leverage resources and drive positive change within their communities.

The event marked a transition in leadership (read more HERE), with Adam McDonald elected as the new Federation President, succeeding Peter Doyle, who was thanked for his years of dedicated service. The evening culminated in the BCSF Excellence Awards Dinner and Gala, honoring outstanding achievements within the snowmobiling community over the past year.

Sunday provided an exhilarating conclusion to the weekend with an informal group ride out to Allan Creek, a welcome opportunity for the delegates to experience the stunning landscape of the Robson Valley.

The BCSF's annual gathering serves as more than just a platform for networking and education; it embodies a collective dedication to propelling the sport of snowmobiling forward in the breathtaking landscape of British Columbia. As snowmobile enthusiasts prepare for another exhilarating season, the connections formed and knowledge shared at the event will undoubtedly ignite future achievements and foster collaboration within the community.

The BCSF extends sincere gratitude to the warm-hearted community of Valemount for their exceptional hospitality. A special appreciation goes to the dedicated team at Best Western Plus Valemount, whose gracious welcome and attentive care made our stay feel like home for all 70 delegates. Thank you for your generosity and support.
